About

Sharpen how you think, one argument at a time

DebateYou is a place to practice the lost art of arguing well. Pick a contested question, take a side, and debate it, against our AI or a real opponent, then get scored on the strength of your reasoning rather than the volume of your voice.

Why we built it

Public argument has gotten worse. Most of us encounter the hardest questions only as slogans, dunks, and outrage, rarely as the careful, two-sided reasoning they deserve. We wanted a low-stakes place to do the opposite: to steel-man the other side, notice our own fallacies, and get honest feedback on whether an argument actually holds up.

The premise is simple. You learn to think more clearly by defending a position out loud, against resistance, and then seeing where it broke. DebateYou turns that into a quick, repeatable practice you can do in a few minutes on any topic that interests you.

What you can do here

How scoring works

After a debate ends, an AI judge evaluates both sides on the substance of their case, the quality of their rebuttals, and how well they held their ground, and returns a short verdict with scores for each side. The goal is not to declare a final truth about hard questions, but to give you fast, consistent feedback on your reasoning so you can improve.

Our approach to hard topics

Many of the questions here are genuinely contested and sometimes sensitive. We cover them by presenting the strongest good-faith case on each side, not by taking a house position. Our explainers aim to be balanced and encyclopedic; our moderation blocks slurs, threats, and personal information so the focus stays on ideas, not abuse.

Who's behind it

DebateYou is an independent project built by a small team that cares about clear thinking and good-faith disagreement. Have feedback, a topic suggestion, or a question? Reach us through our support page. You can also read our community guidelines and privacy policy.
